History
Al's Electric Works was created in 1978 as a natural result of my interests and excitements. I have always enjoyed meeting people, electrical phenomena, building things with my hands, and going different ways to work. This job has it all. I graduated from Iowa State University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering focused on computer design. This was before personal computers. 1970 computers were huge hulking things with less memory than many student calculators have today. As a matter of conscience I then went to work for an electricity generator as a power engineer. In 1974 I started casting about for a better fitting job. I had worked as an electrician during the summers when I was getting my degree. By 1978, I arrived at self employment and electrical contracting. I enjoy breathing new electrical life into old homes. In addition to installing wiring for outlets, lights, appliances and machines, I install wiring for telephone, video equipment
