Afro-Brazilian Capoeira Association
The Afro-Brazilian Capoeira Association (ABCA), founded in 1992 by Mr. Yoji Senna in Minneapolis, is the first capoeira school in the Twin Cities, dedicated to the practice and promotion of this Afro-Brazilian martial art. Following the teachings of the Centro de Pesquisa Estudo e Instrução de Capoeira Senavox in Bahia, Brazil, the organization embraces an all-inclusive approach while being rooted in Afrocentric principles.
Under the guidance of Mestre Senna filho, son of renowned Mestre Carlos Senna and a student of Mestre Bimba, ABCA offers classes for both adults and children, fostering a welcoming environment for all. The association continues to uphold its commitment to cultural education and community engagement through regular training sessions in South Minneapolis.
