During Matt's many years in public accounting he has worked hard to develop an expertise in accounting and tax services in the construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, and hospitality industries. Matt and his family have been longtime residents of Gaylord and Northern Michigan. Matt graduated from St. Mary's High School and received his bachelor's of science degree in professional accounting from Alma College. During Matt's academic years, he worked at his family's small restaurant business where he developed a keen sense of the hardships and struggles that go into operating and running a business. During this period of time, Matt witnessed first hand the challenges facing small business, and the determination of small business owners to be successful and provide for their families. After graduating from Alma College, Matt joined a regional accounting firm were he gained expertise in accounting, auditing, and tax related services. It was during this period of time that Matt realized the inability of large accounting firms to provide expert and affordable tax and accounting services to small businesses ( services that these businesses needed desperately ).
