The winds are so strong the plane is completely sideways as we begin to descend onto the landing strip. As we taxi along it becomes apparent the wings of the plane stretch out to the edges of the airstrip where the snow is as high as the wings. We safely arrive at our destination, a village on the far edge of Alaska. The passengers, teams from each department: Engineering, Surveying, Environmental, Geology and Right of Way. After unloading our equipment the village elder's arrive on their snow machines with wooden sleds "school bus" towed behind in order to haul us to the village school for a public meeting. The subject: relocation of the new airstrip.On another journey to a public meeting I was carted off by an elderly woman on the back of a four wheeler racing along a beach with the splash of the salty waves saturating us.Oh, the places I have been and the people I have had the honor to have met along the way have been INCREDIBLE. My working life has been a working vacation, and I have developed skills and experiences that most can only dream of thanks to my work in Right of Way.My journey began over a decade ago as a receptionist at the front desk of a title office and moved vigorously transitioning through title and escrow, real estate law, land surveying, and lastly a fast paced natural evolution in Right of Way. When I began this journey I would never have anticipated traveling to the places I have trekked. I can only hope to continue to visit people and places that keep me looking back on my work experiences thinking, "WOW, let's do that again!"
