Northland Library Co-Op
The Northland Library Cooperative (NLC) is a non-profit resource sharing network of public libraries in northern Michigan, covering thirteen counties and serving a population of 296,766 residents. With twenty-four public libraries and eighteen branches, NLC works collaboratively to bring quality information services to the citizens of this mostly rural area.
As one of the eleven cooperatives funded by the State of Michigan, NLC prioritizes advocating for member libraries at local, state, and national levels, providing consultant services to improve professional skills, and facilitating communication and networking among member libraries. Additionally, NLC offers group purchasing for patron services, inter-library loan and resource sharing services, and access to resources not available locally.
