Natalie N. Rizk MD, PhD is a breast surgical oncologist at St. John Providence. Dr. Rizk completed her Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Michigan; she completed her General Surgery Residency at Beaumont Health Systems in Royal Oak, Michigan and received both her Medical Degree and Doctorate Degree from Wayne State University-School of Medicine. She received her Bachelor's Degree with Honors, majoring in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan. Dr. Rizk is quite passionate about education and giving back to the community. She was active in various didactic series and mentorship programs throughout Graduate School, Medical School, General Surgery Residency training and during her Fellowship. The majority of her graduate and postgraduate research has been presented at national meetings and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has served on editorial boards, multiple educational committees and has published a book chapter in a scientific textbook on "Peptides". In graduate school Dr. Rizk received the Dean's Research Excellence Award for her research in the metabolic perturbations and the subsequent response to focal ischemic-reperfusion injury. She hopes to expand her research now and examine the relationship of metabolomics and breast cancer. Patients referred to Dr. Rizk can expect to receive the upmost compassionate care and individualized breast cancer management that is supported by evidence-based data. Her extensive background in research and education coupled the holistic approach taken through the Van Elslander Cancer Center will be an asset to the management of patients benign and malignant breast diseases. Carrie L. Dul, M.D. began her career in medicine as an R.N. completing her undergraduate degrees in psychology, biology and nursing science at University of Michigan-Dearborn and Wayne State University with highest honors. Dr. Dul has a strong interest in the care of breast cancer patients and women's health in relationship to oncology and hematology diagnoses. She completed special clinical training in breast cancer during her fellowship and established an active breast cancer practice. She has participated in clinical trials, written and given review lectures for community oncologists, patients and her academic community in thee areas. She has additional training in ethics and has served on the ethics committee during her residency and fellowship. She has been recognized by her peers for exceptional compassion in caring for patients with humanism award. She serves as the Principal Investigator at St. John Hospital and Medical Center for clinical cancer trials with the National Cancer Institute, Mayo Clinic as well as other national research organizations. She serves on the Board of Michigan Cancer Research Consortium which is a network of community hospitals engaged in clinical research. She is an advocate for continued research in oncology and participation in clinical trials.
