The Lansing Police Department provides law enforcement services, promotes public safety and protects the rights and property of residents in Lansing, Mich. The community services department organizes neighborhood watch groups, provides senior citizens with safety tips, conducts crime prevention seminars and offers home security surveys. The K-9 team is trained in off-leash obedience, handler protection, locating weapons and the apprehension of fleeing subjects. The crime scene investigation unit is trained in crime scene processing, the care and handling of physical evidence, trace evidence, fingerprinting, photography, casting and courtroom sketches.
