Welcome to vscenter.com The Vision and Sensory Center offers a dynamic approach to Visual Therapy for children and adults in West Michigan. Dr. Hohendorf and his staff are dedicated to looking for and treating developmental and stress induced vision problems. Inadequate visual performance is often overlooked and can lead to problems such as headaches, poor concentration, difficulties reading, and a number of sensory integration issues that are not normally thought of as visual problems. Vision difficulties can be negatively affecting you or your child's accomplishments at school or on the job, if you or your child are suffering from such issues, visual therapy may be the solution. To begin the exciting journey to better vision, click on Getting Started. The staff of VSC is dedicated to continuing their education and providing the most current therapies. Dr. Hohendorf and the therapists deeply care and connect with patients, and are committed to providing the best possible choices in treatment. In turn, they appreciate families who are truly dedicated to therapy, and who equally share in the growth and progress of the patient. The Vision and Sensory Center has been operating in southwest Grand Rapids ( Wyoming ) since January 2004. Dr. Hohendorf was in private practice since 1975 at his South Kent Vision Center on Division and 44th St. The VSC designs comprehensive treatment and strives to help each person calm, stimulate, and balance the whole body to operate more efficiently through vision therapy. We are here to educate and support families who may be suffering from the many signs and symptoms that can be associated with learning related vision problems. Vision and Sensory Center is dedicated to providing thorough evaluations and therapy in a professional and supportive environment. The VSC strives to help each person coordinate the visual system with the body so that it may operate at its most efficient potential. We believe that every person is unique and that vision therapy should be designed around the individual's needs. To provide the best possible care, our staff has been carefully selected to contribute a variety of professional experience. The VSC staff is committed to continuing their education and staying informed of current research and advances in the medical community. Our goal is to help people understand that there is a difference between seeing clearly and having good vision. You may be 20/20 in both eyes - passing a basic eye exam - but still have poor vision. Quality vision is much more than clear eyesight, it is how well you put meaning to what you see. Vision is hands extended. In other words, when it is working well we don't have to touch, taste, smell, or hear to understand what things are. Having good vision provides us with the ability to efficiently manipulate and move in the space around us. Finally, good vision helps us remember what we have seen. It predicts what our movements can produce ( the possible future ). Most of us think in terms of pictures and use the visual process constantly throughout the day, but there are many who do not have this ability. Those who are able to process visual information quickly and thoroughly have the best chance for success in this image driven world. If you feel you or someone you care for are lacking these important visual skills please click on Getting Started to schedule your visual evaluation today.

Holland Eye Surgery & Laser Center

In 1952, William Arendshorst, MD, began his practice of ophthalmology in Holland. A pioneering spirit, he brought modern cataract surgery, intraocular lens implants, corneal transplantation, retinal detachment repair, and oculoplastic surgery to West Michigan. This same spirit continues today; John Arendshorst, MD, Eric Snyder, MD, Benjamin Currie, MD and Saba Kadlec, MD have introduced state-of-the-art cataract surgery and Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS), posterior chamber lens implants, argon and YAG laser surgery, LASIK laser vision correction, and other medical surgical and diagnostic innovations to Holland. Tara Oosterbaan , OD and Rosanne Pruis, OD, joined the team providing medical optometric care in addition to working closely with Dr. Arendshorst, Dr. Snyder, Dr. Currie and Dr. Kadlec.
