Iron Mountain, MI 49801
CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. The Museum features exhibits depicting life on the Menominee Iron Range from the latter part of the 19th century through the early years of the 20th century. Some of the highlights include a country store stocked with a wide variety of life's necessities from the turn of the century. A dugout canoe dating from between 1650 & 1756 and a birch bark canoe made by the Menominee Indians who lived in Badwater, dating from the early 1900's. A trapper's cabin, trading post, barber shop, doctor's office, dentist's office, pharmacy, ice house, blacksmith, barn, parlor & schoolroom depict early life. A moonshine still, folding bathtub, early musical instruments & early doll collection prove interesting.
