Midland Cogeneration Venture (MCV) is the largest natural gas-fired combined electrical energy and steam energy generating plant in the United States. It supplies electrical energy to customers in Michigan and the midcontinent, as well as bulk process steam energy to nearby chemical production companies. Owned and operated by Capital Power since 2022, MCV utilizes combined-cycle heat and power technology to produce up to 50% more electricity from the same fuel than a traditional plant.

With a capacity of 816.5 MW, MCV is capable of continuously producing 1,633 MW of electrical power and 1.5 million pounds per hour of process steam. The facility is contracted to sell electricity to Consumers Energy until 2030 and supply steam and electricity to Dow, Corteva Agriscience, and the Michigan Dow IPark until 2035. In addition to its operational excellence, MCV is committed to community engagement and sustainability, contributing to the local economy and supporting various organizations in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
