Meyers Chevrolet is a small-town family-owned dealership that specializes in sales and service of Chevrolet vehicles. We also specialize in sales of GM Certified pre-owned vehicles and all other used vehicles. We will meet or beat any deal! Meyers Chevrolet was founded in 1937 when Leon Snyder and Elmer Meyers purchased All Service Garage in New Era and renamed it Snyder and Meyers All Service Garage. The two men sold Chevrolets out of a showroom in Shelby in association with William Hartman, who owned the local franchise. They also operated a gasoline and service station at the New Era site. In 1940, Hartman sold out of the dealership and the franchise became fully owned by Snyder and Meyers. In 1943, Snyder sold his interest in the business and the business name was changed to Meyers Chevrolet Sales. Despite tough times during WWII, the business survived and continued to steadily grow during Elmer's ownership. In 1948, Elmer purchased a farm implement business, which became part of the business name, and it was discontinued in 1962. Meyers Chevrolet proudly sells the Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Express, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet HHR, vehicles. In 1965, Elmer's sons, Gerald and Mike, purchased the business after many years of working for the business during their school years. Over the years, Gerald and Mike expanded the auto sales and service business while discontinuing the gasoline station. The new car showroom, used car lot, and service area were also expanded. In fact, new vehicle inventory increased from the original four cars in stock to anywhere between 50 and 75 new vehicles. Used vehicle inventory also increased. In 1982, Gerald and Mike purchased the AMC, Jeep, Renault franchise that was in Rothbury and moved it to New Era. Gerald's son, Scott, began working at the dealership during his school years and, upon completion of college, he began working full time. In 1991, Scott purchased the business from his father and uncle, and many changes have taken place since. Along with ongoing remodeling projects, Scott has purchased the Meyers Body Shop and sold the Jeep franchise. Currently, the business consists of new Chevrolet sales, used vehicle sales, automotive service, and body repair. In 1999, Scott's brother, Steve, began working at the dealership as well. A fourth generation of the Meyers family is also working at the dealership as Scott's daughter, Amy, began during her school years. Although much has changed, much has stayed the same. Meyers Chevrolet continues to provide small town friendly service, is committed to New Era and the surrounding area, and offers the best in customer service through our highly trained sales and service staff.
