Michigan State Medical Society
Established in 1866, the Michigan State Medical Society offers a variety of health care services. It is a statewide association of more than 15,000 medical doctors. The society makes policies on issues involving public health, health care delivery and medical ethics. It offers various educational, advocacy and insurance services. The society also provides a range of health tools that include s books on dialysis, quit kits for smokers, health care brochures and online information. It offers an Internet-based system that enables health care personnel and citizens to preregister for assistance during an emergency. The society provides a booklet that features information on pain management, hospice and palliative care and spirituality services for terminally ill patients. In addition, it offers vaccination and cancer care services. Michigan State Medical Society is affiliated with the American Medical Association and maintains a location in East Lansing, Mich.
