Hear unforgettable stories about life behind bars, colorful characters, painful punishments, escapes, corruption, and reforms. You will visit Michigan's first prison. Don't Miss This Tour! Recommended for anyone over 8 years old. This is a 1 hour 30 minute tour. Open: April 1st through October 31st. Bus Tour Groups inquire about a customized tour for your group, weekdays are open for buses. All tours start at Michigan’s First State Prison and proceed from there. Friday through Saturday at 10:00 AM or 1:00 PM. Reservations are necessary for all tours! Reserve your spot online before 5 PM the previous day.
