The Karmanos Cancer Institute is one of the leading cancer centers in the United States. The center provides services to more than 6,000 new patients annually and conducts over 700 cancer-specific scientific investigation programs. It maintains a staff of nearly 1,000 members, including approximately 300 faculty members, as well as several volunteer and financial donors. It is a part of the Detroit Medical Center, which provides emergency medicine, complex trauma, critical care and geriatrics services. The Karmanos Cancer Institute provides biological therapy, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, symptom management and hospice services.
