The mission of the Genesee County Road Commission is to provide and maintain a safe, cost-efficient and quality county road system for the motorists in Genesee County, Mich. The first road to enter Genesee County was a trail cut from Saginaw to Flint, Mich., by detachments of the Third United States infantry in the winter of 1822-23. It was called the Saginaw Military Road, though it was little more than a bridle path. The Genesee County Road Commission maintains more than 1,813 miles of road and streets and more than 250 signalized intersections. The Genesee County Road Commission was awarded a Certificate of Public Relations Award by the County Road Association of Michigan.
