Family Independence Agency

The Family Independence Agency, a part of the Department of Human Services, provides a wide range of services and support programs to families. It offers financial aid to families for various living expenses such as shelter, heat, utilities, clothing, food and personal care items. The agency also provides programs in child care, social and parenting skills, vocational training, educational opportunities and employment assistance. It offers a wide range of children's welfare services that include foster care, juvenile justice, protective services and adoption. In addition, the agency undertakes advocacy and community outreach activities. The Family Independence Agency is located in Lansing, Mich.
