In 1952, William Arendshorst, MD, began his practice of ophthalmology in Holland. A pioneering spirit, he brought modern cataract surgery, intraocular lens implants, corneal transplantation, retinal detachment repair, and oculoplastic surgery to West Michigan. This same spirit continues today; John Arendshorst, MD, Eric Snyder, MD, Benjamin Currie, MD and Saba Kadlec, MD have introduced state-of-the-art cataract surgery and Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS), posterior chamber lens implants, argon and YAG laser surgery, LASIK laser vision correction, and other medical surgical and diagnostic innovations to Holland. Tara Oosterbaan , OD and Rosanne Pruis, OD, joined the team providing medical optometric care in addition to working closely with Dr. Arendshorst, Dr. Snyder, Dr. Currie and Dr. Kadlec. The Holland Eye Surgery and Laser Center is founded on astute clinical judgement and comprehensive, up to date medical knowledge. Dr. Arendshorst, Dr. Snyder, Dr. Currie and Dr. Kadlec are licensed medical doctors and are university trained, board certified ophthalmologists. We strongly believe that it is our responsibility, in caring for our patients, to maintain the highest standards of medical and surgical excellence. At the Holland Eye Surgery and Laser Center, our new licensed state-of-the-art operating rooms allow the performance of most types of ophthalmic surgery, while maximizing cost efficiencies to the patient. All procedural details and personnel are controlled by the doctors, to provide the highest level of technical excellence and personalized service. Today, for example, patients may have cataract surgery with lens implantation and return home only a few hours after arrival. Modern eye surgery is comfortable, with very high degree of success and comfort.
