Curtis Township
Curtis Township, located in the southwest corner of Alcona County, Michigan, was organized in 1881 and named after its first settler, E.D. Curtis. Bisected by highway M-65, the township boasts numerous streams and rivers flowing through its fields and forests, with main communities including Glennie and Curtisville.
Both towns originated during the Michigan lumbering boom in the 1880s, with Curtisville offering picturesque views of the AuSable River and Alcona Dam. Today, these small rural communities feature several small lakes, abundant trails for snowmobiling and hiking, and over half of the township included in the Huron National Forest.
