Commission on Aging

The Cass County Council on Aging s mission, as a community supported human service agency and vital part in the aging network, is to assist older adults and those responsible for their well-being. The council attempts to preserve the elderly's dignity and enhance the quality of their lives by providing in-home care, information, support services and enrichment activities. Every year, the council serves more than 6,000 Cass County and non-Cass County residents in Michigan. Leisure enrichment activities include trips, clubs, clinics and services, support groups and classes. Life enrichment activities include workshops, seminars, discussion groups and courses. Direct care services include an adult day service program and in-home respite care services. The council also offers fitness services, such as a fitness room, fitness activities and classes. The Cass County Council on Aging is located in Cassopolis, Mich.

Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan offers various services to the older people with disabilities. Its services include health care, nutritional care and medical supervision for patients suffering from Parkinson s, Alzheimer s, and various other physical and neurological disabilities. The organization contracts with providers to deliver personal care, assisted transportation, housekeeping, home delivered meal, respite care, outreach and assistance, and legal assistance services to older people. It also offers financial aid to the underprivileged people. The center provides in-home care and 24-hour emergency services, and also offers pharmacy. Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan is a nonprofit organization, and located in Grand Rapids, Mich.
