Calhoun County District Courthouse

Calhoun District Court processes case filings that are initiated by law enforcement, businesses and private citizens. The court handles all misdemeanors, including arraignment, setting and acceptance of bail, trial and sentencing, and conducts preliminary examinations in felony cases. The court has special jurisdiction of all summary proceedings, small claims and civil litigation and handles garnishments, tenancy, eviction and other proceedings. Additionally, it handles cases of civil infraction traffic violations, such as speeding, illegal turn and going through a red light. The district court is responsible for collecting and distributing fine, costs and fees and also handles cases of city ordinance violations, such as disorderly conduct and gun law and drug violations.
