Founded in 1967, New Detroit is a private, nonprofit human service organization. It is a coalition of business, civic and religious communities that plan cooperative strategies. The organization serves as a catalyst for influencing the actions of individuals and institutions. New Detroit s focus areas include youth development, race relations and cultural collaboration, economic equity and community capacity building. It supports the improvement plans of Detroit Public Schools. The organization is also an incubator of small community and faith-based organizations.
