Brian Wolf Sister's Home
Sisters, Home Visitors of Mary is a vibrant multicultural community founded in 1949 with a focus on welcoming newly arriving African-American families in Detroit, Michigan. They reach out to people in the context of their lives, encouraging them through respectful conversation and common action to explore goodness, truth, and beauty in themselves and their community. The Sisters minister in city parishes, serve in food pantries and soup kitchens, organize retreats and discussion groups, and provide various forms of assistance to the marginalized.
In addition to their work in Detroit, the Sisters also have a presence in Nigeria, where they teach in schools, run child care centers, provide religious education, visit hospitals and prisons as chaplains, and run a women's empowerment business training program. They are committed to spreading the Good News through their worship, programs of faith formation, and service to those in need. The Sisters strive to bring about inclusion of various races, tribes, ethnic and national groups, and work for justice and peace in all that they do.
