Bethesda Church is a thriving multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation in Ypsilanti Michigan. Our aim is to bring healing and restoration through our dynamic worship and develop everyone to their fullest potential with relevant teaching, sermons and conferences. We offer something for every member of the family. Please join us to experience the very best He has for you. Bethesda Bible Church was founded in 1961 by Rev. Elton & Rev. Judith Weatherly. The need for a church in the Ypsilanti area was brought to the attention of Rev. M.D. Beall while the Weatherly's were attending Bethesda Missionary Temple in Detroit, Michigan (now known as Bethesda Christian Church, Sterling Heights, MI). Pastor Weatherly was then sent out to Ypsilanti from the Armory of Bethesda Missionary Temple. In the beginning, Bethesda was only five families and the new "church" held their meetings in member homes and other temporary locations. Then, in 1962, after much prayer for a permanent building, the Lord blessed this faithful core with a lovely facility on Lowell Street in Ypsilanti, across from Eastern Michigan University. Because of their dedication and faithfulness, the Lord directed Rev. Elton & Judith to start a new work in Paris, Tennessee. It was then that the Lord directed Pastors Leon & Ann Johnson to assume full time pastoral ministry. In 1988, the need for a larger facility brought about a new building project. On Palm Sunday of 1988, Bethesda's Groundbreaking Service consecrated this site and by December 1989, the first service was held in the Fellowship Hall (now named Weatherly Hall). Since, then, the congregation has doubled in size.
