Established in 1971, Special Risks is an excess and surplus lines general agent that serves independent insurance agents throughout Michigan. Its underwriting department includes various divisions, such as personal lines, transportation, specialty lines and commercial property and casualty divisions. Its personal lines division provides coverages for mobile homeowners, motor homes, rental mobile homes, snowmobiles, travel trailers and watercrafts. The agency provides commercial lines coverages for artisan contractors, fireworks, hotels and motels, vacant land, janitorial and landscapers. Its specialty lines coverage includes builders risk, discontinued products, foreign liability, medical malpractice and products recall. The agency also owns and manages a premium finance company, Insta Prem. Special Risks is located in Sterling Heights, Mich.
