Dr. Carlos Martinez received his medical degree from National University in Bogota, South America, where he served his residency in internal medicine. He completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Bosque University, Hospital Santa Clara in Bogota. He went on to obtain a master of science degree in health and health-care research from Ann Arbor based University of Michigan School of Public Health, where he completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Until recently, he has been serving as an assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr. Martinez is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians. Martinez has also served in a variety of positions as a journal reviewer and as a teacher of thoracic surgery.

At Oaklawn Pediatric Therapy, our goal is to provide family centered, customized care specific to your child’s needs. Our individualized treatment approach is one-on-one. We will evaluate your child’s abilities and difficulties. We then develop a plan to break down the challenging tasks into smaller parts to help them move toward success. We provide Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy for patients from birth to young adult.

A graduate of Interamerican University in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, Dr. Gil-Acosta completed his residency in internal medicine at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He completed two clinical fellowships in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. Dr. Gil-Acosta is bilingual in English and Spanish. He joined Oaklawn’s active staff in December 2002.
