Mercy Education Project is a nonprofit organization that provides after-school tutoring, summer enrichment and life skills training services. The organization nurtures the intellectual and social growth of women and girls. Its programs focus on the enhancement of self-esteem, self-sufficiency and leadership qualities. Mercy Education Project serves more than 250 individuals throughout southwest Detroit. The organization offers several assistance services in the fields of reading and math, computer literacy, creative expression and social interaction. Additionally, it provides money management, self-development and job training services. The organization s tutors include Tutors include working professionals, college students, and certified and retired teachers. Its volunteer professionals conduct classes in dance, art, sculpture, drama, mask making, sign language, gardening, creative writing, photography, gymnastics and ceramics.
