Witness Tree Institute of Ghana is an immersive two-week professional development experience in Ghana for K-12 educators, aimed at deepening their knowledge of African culture and its global impact, as well as exploring their pedagogical competencies. Through firsthand learning and interactions, participants become witness trees, gaining wisdom and understanding from historical events, traditions, and the rich culture of Ghana. Led by experienced multicultural educators and seasoned travelers, the institute fosters opportunities for educators to develop leadership skills, engage intellectually and emotionally with Ghanaian counterparts, expand critical analysis skills, promote cultural proficiency, and create new teaching habits and curriculum to address diversity and identity in the classroom. Tete Cobblah, the director of WTIG, brings his expertise in cross-cultural communication, multicultural education, and international studies to the institute. With a background in art education and experience teaching at all levels in both Ghana and the United States, Mr. Cobblah has been running national and international workshops and seminars for over 30 years. The U.S team, including Elizabeth Cobblah and Jennifer Y., supports the institute's mission of inspiring global citizenship, fostering understanding, and promoting social justice through experiential learning and reflection.
