We are a diverse team of doctors, engineers and scientists with interdisciplinary backgrounds working in sync towards the goal of translating innovative and cutting-edge technologies into the clinic for improving pediatric patient care. Our research approaches include new device development, innovative applications of existing technologies and clinical data review. Our current projects and collaborations are focused on congenital heart diseases and thoracic surgery.

The overall goal of the Sampson Lab is to help improve the health of children with nephrotic syndrome through applied genomics, with a focus on samples and data collected from patients with this condition. We use computational genomics and bioinformatics to discover new, and map known, nephrotic syndrome-associated variants. We use systems genomics to integrate this genetic data with other genome-scale molecular datasets to try to understand the mechanisms linking these genetic changes with disease. And we use epidemiology to discover the clinical consequences for patients carrying disease-associated genetic variants.

Being able to see what's going on in your child's heart is incredibly useful for doctors. If your child might have or is diagnosed with heart disease, imaging provides them with evidence to make an accurate diagnosis and helps them reach decisions about the best course of treatment. At Boston Children's Hospital, has long been a world leader in advanced cardiac imaging of congenital and acquired pediatric heart disease.
