Two Opticians

History

Two Opticians has roots going all the way back to the 1800's. Its ancestry can be traced back one hundred fifty years to R.L. Davis Optical. Then, around the turn of the twentieth century, Davis Optical became Gopen Optical. Located on Kneeland Street in downtown Boston, it rose in status to become Boston's premier optical business. Sidney Shwom acquired the Gopen business and retained the Gopen name. His son, Lenny Shwom, retired last year and decided to close the business. Two opticians working at Gopen, Jim Barnes and Bernie Nania, took their forty-five years of optician's experience and opened Two Opticians.
