South End Library Park
The Parks and Recreation Department of Boston is dedicated to creating and maintaining clean, green, safe, and accessible open spaces across more than 2,300 acres of parkland throughout the city. This includes a diverse range of properties, such as the Boston Common, the Public Garden, and the Olmsted-designed Emerald Necklace parks system, which feature walking trails, playgrounds, and recreational courts.
In addition to managing urban parks, the department oversees 29 urban wilds, four high school athletic fields, and two public golf courses, while also caring for over 40,000 public street trees. The department actively engages the community through various programs, events, and fitness classes designed to promote outdoor activity and enhance the quality of life for Boston residents.
