New England Coffee, founded in 1916, is the largest roaster and distributor of coffee in New England and one of the largest independent roasters in the country. The coffee roaster is allied with the Harris Teeter supermarket chain, which has added New England Coffee products to its supermarket shelves. Harris Teeter, with its headquarters in Matthews, N.C., serves six states in the Southeastern United States. New England Coffee Company employs 200 people and is headquartered in Malden, Mass. The company participates in charitable causes such as: the March of Dimes Walk, the Brain Tumor Society Ride, the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital (Children's Miracle Network), the American Lung Association Walk, the Boston Chapter of Girl Friends fund-raising cruise on the Odyssey.
