In July of 2003, the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission awarded Action Community Development of Boston ( ABCD ) a grant to develop and administer an Independent Living Center. With these funds, The Multi-Cultural Independent Living Center of Boston, Inc ( MILCB ) was established. MILCB is a consumer oriented, community-based organization that provides independent living services to eligible individuals, of all ages, with significant disabilities and their families. MILCB promotes self-pride, independent decision-making, self-determination, equal access and self-help. MILCB provides our core services of Information & Referral, Independent Skills Training, Advocacy, Peer Mentoring, and Deinstitutionalization in the communities of Dorchester, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Roslindale, Roxbury and W. Roxbury.
