Dr. Lakshman is a Board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. He is a graduate of SDU Medical College in Bangalore, India. After earning a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of South Carolina, he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas in Galveston. This was followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Boston University Medical Center. Dr. Lakshman is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. In addition to diabetes, Dr. Lakshman's interests include thyroid disease, men's health and medical care of transgender individuals.Dr. Lakshman provides care for a wide range of thyroid disorders, including thyroid cancer. Prima CARE's Thyroid Center uses office-based ultrasound techniques to diagnose and biopsy thyroid nodules, parathyroid adenomas, and malignant lymph nodes. Dr. Lakshman is ECNU-certified, and his practice is AIUM-accredited, in the field of thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound. Dr. Lakshman offers Afirma and Thyroseq gene testing for thyroid nodules to prevent unnecessary thyroid surgery, and he is licensed to administer radioactive iodine therapy.

Dr. Zhou is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (FACAAI), a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, and a member of the New England Society of Allergy. He has co-authored over 20 articles that have appeared in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, European Journal of Immunology, Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, Immunity, Molecular Biosystem, Mucosal Immunology, and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He has presented numerous scientific papers and has regularly given professional and community-based lectures.
