Our Director, Joan Sullivan McDonough, has had numerous accomplishments in the field of Gymnastics and Dance. Throughout her career, which encompasses a span of over 30 years, Joan has achieved the highest of awards in the field of Gymnastics and Dance, with her most cherished award to date being selected in 1975 as the State-Wide All-Around Individual Gymnastics Champion. Other awards include Joan as being Bay State Champion and New England Champion in this field. Joan was also a former NFL New England Patriots Cheerleader. As the former Braintree High School Girls Varsity Gymnastics Team ( Captain ) State Champs, and former member of the University of Massachusetts Gymnastics Team, a National Contender, through her instruction Joan provides the insight and ease of style which marks the form and intellect of a winner in her field. In 1983, Joan founded "Joan's Olympic Gym and Fitness Center Inc. Gymnastics and Dance School. Joan is currently a professional member of the United States Gymnastics Federation. More recent Accomplishments include her induction into the Braintree High School Athletic Hall of Fame on April 26th, 1997 and her 1975 Girls Gymnastics team inducted May 5th, 2001. Joan is also National Gymnastics Safety Certified and a United States Skill Evaluator. Joan was the head coach for the for the Varsity Girls Gymnastics Team at Thayer Academy for 5 years.
