History

There have always been plenty of places to skate in Boston, but as players ourselves, each league seemed to have its own drawbacks. Some were merely pick-up skates with refs, another made you buy expensive jerseys, balanced divisions seemed more the exception than the rule, and in most leagues it took you longer to drive to the game than the amount of time you spent on the ice. GBH was founded with a focus on providing a high quality hockey product for adult recreational players. We are a league that values our customers' experience. We know you want a league that is competitive but not a free-for-all, professional and organized but still social and fun, and values a strong sense of team play. So we polled hundreds of hockey players in Massachusetts and designed a league based on their feedback. The results? In September 2009, we launched our Draft Hockey League in Watertown, MA. In 2014 GBH became a brand of Hockey New England, Inc., greatly expanding our hockey community.
