Goldsmith Woodlands, spanning 170 acres in Andover, MA, is a historically rich natural area managed by the Andover Village Improvement Society (AVIS). This sanctuary features diverse habitats, including marshes home to unique flora and fauna, and winding woodland trails, attracting nature enthusiasts and biology researchers alike.
Originally owned by Bessie Goldsmith, who was known for her eccentric methods of protecting the land, the woodlands were donated to assist in wildlife preservation. Today, Goldsmith Woodlands continues to be a hub for outdoor activities and conservation efforts, featuring a development project for an All Persons Trail to increase accessibility for all visitors.
