History

In the summer of 2012, our friend's bike light was stolen. Riding home that night, he was hit by a car. He was OK, but it helped us realize that city cyclists needed gear that would solve their unique problems, like theft and breakage. We created the first anti-theft bike light to protect city cyclists and their gear and launched the product on Kickstarter. The reception was so strong that we decided to build more products to protect city cyclists, and we've been creating city-cycling gear since.

Fortified Bicycle is an online bicycle retailer. (NOT a General Bike Shop) Our office in downtown Boston has a showroom where you can check out our theft resistant bikes and accessories. We build bikes and accessories that are specifically designed for the needs of city cyclists. Our bikes are designed to deter theft, flat tires and rust. All of our accessories come guaranteed against theft. We founded Fortified Bicycle in Cambridge in 2012. After a friend of ours had his lights stolen, he was hit by a car while biking home at night down Commonwealth Avenue. He survived, but his experience showed us that city cyclists needed a champion to design gear that keeps cyclists safe and empowers them to ride with confidence. Since then, we've been building bikes and accessories to keep Boston cyclists safe.
