Emmanuel Church serves the community of greater Boston as a dynamic center for spiritual discovery and renewal. Our extravagant spirit of welcome stems from our conviction that following Jesus in our time and our place looks something like this: - Sincere people of different faiths or no faith can support and love one another in the search for meaning. - The highest standards of artistic achievement can be pursued while caring for the most vulnerable members of society. - Furthering the well-being of individuals does not require coercing their conscience. - All people are included in the love of the Holy One, and therefore are part of our community wherever they are on their spiritual journey. - We practice making justice with compassion in community so that we can engage with justice and compassion in the wider world. A short walk from the Boston Public Garden and halfway along the first block of Newbury Street, we offer our elegant Back Bay venue for that special day. We are proud that Emmanuel is an open church. We invite all to be present with us, regardless of religious affiliation. Emmanuel is also a leader in welcoming and celebrating same-sex marriages. Our first such event took place nearly 30 years ago! Clergy of all denominations may officiate here, in addition to Emmanuel's own clergy, who are available to you upon consultation. Emmanuel's organist directs all music at weddings and other ceremonies.
