Drug Story Theater, Inc
Drug Story Theater, Inc. is an innovative nonprofit organization based in Marshfield, MA, dedicated to the treatment and prevention of adolescent substance abuse. Through their evidence-based program, they empower young recovering addicts by teaching them improvisational theater and helping them craft their own stories of seduction, addiction, and recovery from drugs and alcohol. These powerful stories are then performed to middle, high school, and college audiences, using brain science and slides to educate about addiction and its impact on relationships and academic success.
With a mission to turn the treatment of one into the prevention of many, Drug Story Theater has reached over 40,000 audience members across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Led by Dr. Joseph Shrand, a leading expert in adolescent addiction, the organization has partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts to expand its program. Although live shows have been temporarily halted due to Covid-19, Drug Story Theater continues to share its message of prevention through online video performances, making it an ideal resource for in-person, remote, or hybrid learning in middle schools nationwide.
