Dorchester Historical Society

The Dorchester Historical Society, founded in 1843 and incorporated in 1891, is dedicated to preserving and celebrating nearly four centuries of Dorchester's rich history. With an all-volunteer board, it promotes historical education and the preservation of historic buildings through various programs and exhibitions.

Owning three historic houses from 1661, 1765, and 1806, as well as a c. 1850 barn, the Society houses a collection of valuable artifacts that highlight the community's agricultural and industrial past. Monthly programs and published monographs further engage the community in understanding and appreciating Dorchester's heritage.
