Contemplative Mind Project
The Contemplative Mind Project, based in Williamsburg, MA, was a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting contemplative practices in various areas of society. For nearly 30 years, they offered programs and resources focused on racial justice, social justice, economic justice, and environmental justice, as well as contemplative practices in leadership education, Israeli schools of education, and more. Unfortunately, as of September 1, 2022, the organization has closed its doors, but their programmatic and intellectual property assets have been successfully rehomed to ensure continued accessibility.
The Robert S. Cox Special Collections and University Archives Research Center at the W.E.B. Du Bois Library, UMass Amherst, will house an archive of CMind's website, publications, recordings, and resources, allowing these valuable teaching and learning materials to remain accessible. Additionally, the Association for Contemplative Mind in Higher Education (ACMHE), an initiative of CMind, will continue as an independent member-governed association, led by Lenwood Hayman and supported by other dedicated individuals. While CMind may have closed, its legacy and impact on contemplative practices will live on through these rehomed assets and the ongoing work of ACMHE.
