I stopped payment on a check I wrote in October 2019 and the check just cleared 3.5 years after I stopped payment March 2020. Turns out stop payment only means stop payment for six months.

This branck is smaller than you usual bank and because of that it's never busy, and they have a drive thru ATM which I use often.
