Natick Public Works Department, located in Natick, Mass., supervises various divisions, such as land facilities and natural resources, recycling center, water and sewer, highway and sanitation, engineering, water treatment, and building and equipment maintenance. The department operates a building maintenance division that services fire and security alarms, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. The division monitors the temperature and airflow of buildings and provides electrical and plumbing repairs. Its engineering division utilizes computers, surveying equipment, global positioning systems, computer-aided designs, plotters and digitizers. Its recycling and composting center provides curbside programs. The equipment division maintains a fleet of vehicles. The department's highway and sanitation division provides crosswalk painting, warning signs design, drainage catch basins cleaning, street sweeping, potholes patching, street paving and gravel pit maintenance. The sewer division supervises water meter installation and backflow prevention device testing.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the planning, operation, maintenance and management of parkland, public buildings, ways, open spaces, grounds, town cemeteries, and water distribution and sewer collection systems. The department is additionally responsible for the collection and disposal of solid waste. It provides motor equipment maintenance services to various town departments. The Public Works Department assists local community groups with river and pond clean-up events. It is governed by the town of Winchester in Massachusetts, which also maintains engineering, fire, health, recreation and information technologies departments. The town government s police department protects lives and properties, prevents crimes, enforces laws and maintains order.
