Brain On Tutoring

History

After working around the Bay Area with various tutoring and test preparation companies, assisting university professors with their courses, and teaching at a junior college level, I realized one of my favorite aspects of education was working one-on-one with students and figuring out how they learned best. I started my own business so I could do that full time.

Specialties

For the last seven years, I've worked with students of all ages, first in a university setting, then at various tutoring companies and summer camps. In my own education, I completed both a Master's in History and all the undergraduate courses required for medical school; I like writing, I like science, and I love research. Enjoyment of learning and curiosity are two of my favorite things, and in addition to my experience with education, they're what I bring to the table when I tutor. I am a solution-focused tutor because I focus, ultimately, on results, be those grades, an improvement in attitude about school, or more competence in problem-solving skills. I can provide guidance on how to handle different types of tests, how to keep from getting stuck on Math problems, and how to work with public or private school systems. My goal for every student is to help him or her achieve success academically both short and long term.
