The Department of Dermatology at Boston University provides care to inpatients and outpatients, and is located in Boston. It provides education to generating new knowledge about normal and diseased skin. The department provides dermatologic training to medical students, dermatology residents, international graduate physicians, residents in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. Its dermatology clinical research center was established in 1987 to conduct all phases of clinical studies pertaining to the skin. It also provides treatment for disorders of the skin, general dermatology, cosmetic and laser services, hair removal and loss, liposuction and the treatment of skin cancer. The department additionally offers cosmetic plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures. Its skin oncology program provides comprehensive care for patients with pigmented lesions and melanomas, including education, counseling and surgical treatment.
