Founded in 1957, the Boston Redevelopment Authority coordinates a variety of development projects and related programs. It consists of economic development, planning, research, administration and finance, and jobs and community service divisions. The authority is responsible for acquiring, selling and leasing real estate properties, as well as promotes public policy objectives for the growth of industries and land use policies. It additionally issues revenue bonds and notes to finance development projects. The authority makes recommendations on construction and redevelopment activity to the Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeal. It also coordinates a range of financing and loan programs, as well as offers technical assistance and related business solutions. The authority provides job training, placement and support services. The Boston Redevelopment Authority is a part of the government of the City of Boston in Massachusetts.
