The Animal Rescue League of New Bedford, now known as The Humane Society Shelter SouthCoast, is a private non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassionate care for unwanted, abandoned, and stray animals in the Greater New Bedford and Fall River regions of Massachusetts. Since 1911, they have been serving the community by rescuing and rehoming animals, as well as advocating for their humane treatment.
Located in North Dartmouth since 2003, The Humane Society Shelter SouthCoast serves several towns in Southeastern Massachusetts, including Fall River, Dartmouth, Wareham, and Marion. They also assist the City of New Bedford with stray and abandoned animals, and accept owner surrenders when space is available. As an independent organization, they are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States, but they work tirelessly to educate the public about animal welfare and provide essential services to animals in need.
