Anderson, grandfather of today's owners, established Anderson's Jewelers in 1947. Right after the end of WW II, at a time when the price of an average house was $6, 000, a loaf of bread 13 cents, gas 15 cents per gallon, and the Big Band sound was in full swing, John was inspired to live the American Dream of owning his own business. With watch making skills he honed at the Waltham Watch Co., plus experience working at Peterson's Jewelers in Needham, along with a $500 loan from his sister-in-law, he struck out on his own in Wellesley, where he founded Anderson's Jewelers. This was a time when watch makers were in demand, so his entrepreneurial business grew very quickly. John had a simple yet powerful philosophy about running a business, but it held him in good stead throughout the years. If you ask any of his grandchildren, they will tell you his motto: "Treat all customers the same-whether they are replacing a watch strap or purchasing a diamond. Every customer is special to us-we consider them part of our family." This philosophy of customer service was passed down to future generations of Andersons, and is reflected in the company's record of success. After graduating from Boston University with a business degree, John's son Robert joined his father's growing business. He then became a certified gemologist, expanded the store's diamond inventory, and added a line of giftware. In the 1970s, three of Robert's children, Neil, Vickie (Mancini) and Kurt joined their father in the Wellesley store. Neil and Kurt enrolled at the Gemological Institute of America and became certified gemologists. They helped to grow the base of expertise for the business, while Vickie became the buyer of jewelry and giftware lines Today, Anderson's Jewelers is currently in its third generation of Anderson ownership. Neil, Vickie and Kurt share share ownership and management responsibilities for the shop that their grandfather started more than 60 years ago. Their father Robert, although now living in Florida and in his mid-eighties, is still active in the business. Expansion and Innovation Owners Neil Anderson, Vickie Anderson Mancini Kurt Anderson in photo below. During the last few decades we have continued to expand and innovate. Our inventory is varied-there is something here for every taste and budget. We also include some higher-end designer names and pieces, that mix nicely with our traditional inventory. We also offer repair service on jewelry and watches, appraisals, and we design unique pieces for our customers. We are able to provide the highest professional service to our sales, custom designs, repair/restoration, and appraisal services. Our bridal selection is famous for both its traditional and unique designs with hundreds of GIA-certified diamonds at exceptional values. Our extensive estate department has a large selection of treasures from the past, offering unique designs and a solid value for our customers. Whether you are looking for a classic to buy or have an heirloom to sell, we are here to serve. As a family business, we've been in the community for decades, and we know most of our customers on a first-name basis. We take our role as jewelers very seriously, especially when we help a couple make one of the most important purchases of their lives-an engagement ring and wedding bands. We touch the lives of our customers at very important stages. For example, Grandfather John may have designed a customer's wedding ring 60 years ago. That customer has continued to mark special occasions and holidays with a personal piece from us for many years - the birth of a child, an anniversary, a birthday, a retirement. Today we are helping a new generation along their journey--we are engraving sterling baby rattles for their great grandchildren now. It's a great feeling to know that we have been impor
