Zahra Maleki, MD

Dr. Allan Gottschalk is an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include anesthesiology. Dr. Gottschalk serves as the director of the Postdoctoral Research Training Program in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.Dr. Gottschalk received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University and his M.S. in systems engineering and biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania and performed a research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Anesthesia. Dr. Gottschalk joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2001.Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Gottschalk was an assistant professor of anesthesia at the University of Pennsylvania. There, he was also a member of the Sleep Center, the Vision Center and the Institute for Neuroscience.Dr. Gottschalk serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including The Scientific World Journal and World Journal of Anesthesiology. He was recognized by Johns Hopkins with a Service Excellence Award in 2011. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Emily Li, M.D., is an oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon at the Wilmer Eye Institute’s locations in Water’s Edge, White Marsh and Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Li specializes in functional and cosmetic surgeries of the eyelids, forehead and face. She also performs surgeries of the tear drainage system, surgeries in the eye socket and endoscopic procedures. She has experience treating patients of all ages, ranging from children to adult patients having oculoplastic surgery. After earning undergraduate and medical degrees from the eight-year combined baccalaureate-medical Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) at Brown University, Dr. Li completed ophthalmology residency training at Yale University. She subsequently underwent subspecialty training by completing the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellowship at the University of Washington.

Dr. Meaghan Morris is an Assistant Professor in the Divisions of Bayview Surgical Pathology and Neuropathology. In addition to her clinical practice in pathology, she leads a basic research program focusing on understanding the molecular basis for Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related dementias, with the ultimate goal of identifying new therapeutic targets for Alzheimer’s disease treatment. These investigations combine insights from brain tissue donated by patients with age-related neurodegenerative diseases, studies in cell culture models, and cutting edge molecular techniques to uncover new pathways involved in Alzheimer’s disease. Currently, her research is focused on how neuronal function and neuronal synapses are regulated by the microtubule-associated protein tau, a key pathologic protein which aggregates in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
