YMCA White Oaks Middle School

White Oak Middle School, established in 1962 as a junior high school, provides educational opportunities to students in grades six through eight. It has an enrollment of more than 900 students and is a part of the Montgomery County Public Schools. The school colors are blue and white, and its mascot is the Wildcat. It offers classes in various subjects, such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, comprehensive health education and outdoor education. The school provides different electives that include computer art, family and consumer sciences, specialty art, music exploration, technology education, and exploring and experiencing theater. It also offers several extracurricular activities, such as math team, yearbook, newspaper, green team, Asian club and the Student Government Association. The school has athletic teams for softball, cross country, basketball and soccer. White Oak Middle School is located in Silver Spring, Md.
